Our December Heroes of the Month
When it comes to being a steady presence for our residents, this monthÕs Hero of the Month, Baltazar
Arreola, is truly the calm in the storm. He consistently demonstrates attentiveness and genuine care,
taking the time to listen and support those on his caseload while maintaining an open and effective line of
communication with his case manager. His proactive approach to addressing behavioral concerns, even for
residents outside his assigned group, reßects his commitment to the entire unit and his willingness to go
above and beyond. Baltazar remains receptive to feedback and implements guidance promptly, showing a
strong desire for growth and collaboration. Despite the challenges that arise, he maintains a positive
attitude that uplifts both residents and staff. Thank you, Baltazar, for your outstanding contributions and for
setting such a high standard of care and teamwork.

We are delighted to honor Maria Cayo, LVN, as our Hero of the Month for the Nursing Department.
This is a well-deserved recognition for her outstanding dedication and excellence in patient care. Maria
embodies professionalism in every sense. Her clinical expertise, reliability, and exceptional
communication skills make her an invaluable part of our team. She works seamlessly with colleagues,
supports and teaches others with patience and kindness, and consistently goes above and beyond to
ensure our patients receive the highest level of care. Her positive attitude, teamwork, and countless
contributions have left a meaningful impact on our facility. Thank you, Maria, for everything you do. You
are truly a shining example of excellence and we are grateful to have you at Sylmar HRC.

A Message from your Administrator
Happy Holidays to each and everyone of you. The holiday season has always held a special place in my heart. There is
something about this time of the year that just makes my heart happy! It feels as if the world becomes a nicer place during
this time of year.
The lights are brighter, the world is more colorful, the people are more friendly, the atmosphere is more lively. It feels as if we
come alive during this time of year and that the beauty of humanity is magniÞed.
This time of year has always been a time of gathering, family, love and laughter. This holiday season, let us pull one another close and be
thankful for the joy of life. Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, Diwali, or Eid al- Adha may your decorations twinkle, your
candles burn brightly and the laughter be robust around your family table.
May the tears be light and Þlled with loving memories that bring a smile to your heart. Take time and listen to those childhood holiday songs,
while you reminisce with a smile and share the tradition of a holiday movie, while decorating holiday cookies.
Take a moment to breathe in the sweet smell of homemade sweet potato pie and enjoy the company of one another. Hug a little longer and
renew your spirit. May your holiday season be Þlled with cheer and love that transcends throughout your years to come.
